“OUR STRATEGIC GOAL IS TO MAKE TAJIKISTAN A MORE FAVORABLE AND PROMISING INVESTMENT DESTINATION, I.E., OPEN TO LONG-TERM PARTNERSHIP, FOCUSED ON SUSTAINABLE GROWTH, AND INTEGRATED INTO THE GLOBAL ECONOMY.”
It is a great pleasure for me to address the international investment community on the pages of The Investor magazine dedicated to our country—the Republic of Tajikistan.
Tajikistan is a country with an ancient history, rich cultural heritage, unique nature, and hardworking and talented people. Located in the very heart of Central Asia, at the crossroads of civilizations of East and West, it has always been part of the Great Silk Road, which contributed to the development of trade, cultural ties, and the mutual enrichment of nations.
Today’s Tajikistan is a country with a dynamically developing economy, expanding international relations, and significant investment potential. Our natural resources—water, hydropower, and mineral reserves—and human capital represented by a young and energetic population, along with the reforms aimed at improving the business climate, form a solid foundation for long-term and successful business development.
We attach special importance to attracting “green” investments in line with modern global trends in environmental protection and climate change mitigation. This is precisely why the International Investment Forum “Dushanbe Invest – 2025” is being held under the slogan:
“Green Investments: Today’s Opportunities for a Sustainable Future.”
Tajikistan possesses enormous opportunities for the implementation of “green” projects that are important not only for our country but also for the entire Central Asia. These are, above all, the vast potential of renewable energy—including hydro, solar, and wind—as well as rich reserves of critical minerals necessary for the “green transition.”
In terms of hydropower resources, Tajikistan ranks 8th in the world. Its annual potential amounts to about 527 billion kWh, which is 2.5 times greater than the combined needs of all Central Asian countries. At present, only 5% of this potential is utilized. This presents distinctive investment opportunities in the sustainable energy of the future.
Our country also possesses abundant reserves of copper, gold, silver, antimony, lithium, zinc, tungsten, and other strategically significant minerals. The combination of affordable “green” electricity and growing global demand makes the joint development of these resources particularly promising.
In addition to energy and mining, we envision significant opportunities in the development of the agro-industrial complex, which prioritizes the processing and export of environmentally friendly products with high added value, as well as in the light, chemical, pharmaceutical, construction, and food processing industries.
Particular attention is also paid to the development of tourism. Mountainous Tajikistan, with its unique nature, rich flora and fauna, historical monuments, and distinctive culture, offers exceptional opportunities for ecological, mountain, ethno, and health tourism.
We are also interested in cooperation with international investors in the development of the financial sector, digitalization of the economy, and the introduction of “green” financial instruments, including the issuance of “green” bonds.
The Government of Tajikistan has created all the necessary conditions for attracting investment, including introducing more than 240 benefits and guarantees for business, over 110 of which are tax and customs incentives. Five free economic zones are successfully operating in the country, and in 2025 a modern IT park began functioning in Dushanbe, providing new opportunities for talented youth and innovative businesses.
The new law “On Investments and the Promotion of Investment Activity” and the Investment Attraction Strategy underline priority sectors and provide guarantees for investor protection.
Our strategic goal is to make Tajikistan a more favorable and promising investment destination, i.e., open to long-term partnership, focused on sustainable growth, and integrated into the global economy.
The “Dushanbe Invest – 2025” Forum serves as an important platform for constructive dialogue, strengthening mutual trust, and jointly seeking solutions for the development of green investments and the creation of a sustainable future.
We invite you not only to explore the investment opportunities of our country but also to discover the rich historical and cultural heritage of Tajikistan, its traditions, and hospitality.
We are looking forward to welcoming you in Dushanbe to start new and mutually beneficial long-term projects.
