“AMERICAN FIRMS ARE NOT JUST INVESTING; THEY ARE SHAPING THE FUTURE OF UZBEKISTAN'S ECONOMY IN PARTNERSHIP WITH LOCAL STAKEHOLDERS.”

CAN YOU TELL US MORE ABOUT YOU CO-CHAIR THE NEWLY ESTABLISHED U.S.–UZBEKISTAN BUSINESS AND INVESTMENT COUNCIL?

The Business and Investment Council was created to translate high-level diplomatic agreements into real commercial wins for both American and Uzbek companies. Our immediate priorities are to accelerate project pipelines in critical minerals, energy, digital infrastructure, and advanced manufacturing; streamline regulatory processes to enable fair competition; and connect U.S. investors with high-growth sectors across Uzbekistan. The Council is focused on measurable outcomes—new investments, signed contracts, and expanded exports—that create jobs in both our countries and strengthen Uzbekistan’s position as a regional engine of growth. We are also implementing the C5+1 Summit commitments by rolling out joint working groups in mining, energy, and digital technology, facilitating direct matchmaking between our firms, and supporting policy reforms that reduce barriers to entry.

FOR COMPANIES LOOKING AT UZBEKISTAN TODAY, WHERE DO YOU SEE THE GREATEST INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES?

Uzbekistan today is at an exciting stage of economic growth. The government’s reform agenda has unlocked new opportunities across sectors where American expertise and innovation deliver real competitive advantages. The most dynamic opportunities are in critical minerals—where joint ventures can help secure the global supply chain, civil nuclear energy, advanced manufacturing, aviation, and agritech, as well as in the rapidly expanding IT and digital economy.

Uzbekistan’s commitment to regulatory modernization, intellectual property protection, and the adoption of international standards makes this the right moment for U.S. companies to move from observer to active participant. Recent deals—in mining, aviation, agricultural machinery, and digital transformation—demonstrate that American firms are not just investing; they are shaping the future of Uzbekistan’s economy in partnership with local stakeholders. The window for early movers is open now, and the Council is here to help them seize it.

There has never been a better time to engage with Uzbekistan. The country is delivering historic reform, favorable investment conditions, and a clear commitment to fair competition and international standards. American companies are leading the way in critical minerals, energy, aviation, agriculture, and digital transformation—setting the benchmark for quality, reliability, and partnership. With the full support of both governments, investors have unprecedented access to high-growth sectors, world-class talent, and a stable platform for long-term returns.

WHY DOES UZBEKISTAN SIT AT THE CENTER OF AMERICA'S VISION FOR THE REGION?

Under President Trump, the United States has adopted an America First strategy that recognizes Central Asia as vital to global security, energy markets, and technological supply chains. Uzbekistan holds a central role due to its economic momentum, reform leadership, and geographic position at the crossroads of major trade and transit routes.

Our engagement is driven by the reality that secure, prosperous, and sovereign Central Asian states are essential for U.S. interests—whether in diversifying supply chains for critical minerals, expanding energy partnerships, or countering malign influence from adversarial actors. Uzbekistan’s willingness to modernize, open markets, and collaborate with American companies puts it at the forefront of our regional approach. We are committed to supporting Uzbekistan’s ambition to be a regional leader and a trusted partner for American business and innovation.

HOW DO YOU SEE THE U.S.-UZBEKISTAN RELATIONS OVER THE NEXT DECADE?

The foundation of our partnership is people. Over the next decade, the U.S.–Uzbekistan relationship will be defined not just by economic growth, but by expanding educational exchanges, professional networks, and cultural collaborations. American Spaces, alumni forums, and English language training programs connect our citizens and build bridges of trust.

These investments pay dividends in entrepreneurship, innovation, and shared values—creating a generation of Uzbek leaders who know America firsthand and a growing American business community invested in Uzbekistan’s future. Cultural heritage cooperation, university partnerships, and joint research are weaving our societies together for the long-term.

For the international investment community, the message is clear: the United States supports Uzbekistan’s trajectory and is investing in its future. Now is the moment to join us. The opportunities are real, the risks are manageable, and the potential is extraordinary.
